St Patricks club notes

November 12, 2018

The Wicklow U20 football championship continued on Sunday 11th November in Dunbur where St Patrick’s took on the visitors from the West Baltinglass. The lads battled hard in the first half against the wind in treacherous conditions. A harsh first half penalty in which Pat Sammon got a hand to, settled Baltinglass who were playing with wind leading with the half time score: St. Patrick’s 0-02 Baltinglass 4-03. St Pats upped their game in the second half and kept going to the end but had left themselves with too much to do. Full time score St. Patricks 0-06 Baltinglass 4-06.
Panel: Pat Sammon, Gavin Caffrey, Reese Kelly, Rossa Marron, Eli Graham, Cormac Murray, Patrick O'Keane, Hugh Humby, Ronan Murray, Andy Earls, Sean Fitzpatrick, Jack Dunne, Luca Rampersaud, Cian Reynolds, Jack Kelly, Robert Moffitt, Cian O'Brien, Dylan Byrne, James Byrne, Matt Traynor, Ken O'Grady, Brian O’Sullivan.

Scorers: Jack Dunne 0-03(2F), Jack Kelly 0-02 (2F), Hugh Humby 0-01

Management: John Smith, Daragh McEvoy, Dean Healy, Donal Marron and Brian O’Connor
The lads will now play Clara Gaels in the Championship quarter final on Sunday 18th November (Time and Venue TBC)

Well done to the senior lads who visited the local primary schools with Miley during the week. All the students gave a fantastic reception and were delighted to welcome their Hero’s.

Our U7 footballers and hurlers celebrated their year with a presentation night in the clubhouse on Friday night. The Miley Cup was a special guest along with Senior football captain Dean Healy and a number of the other senior players which was great to see. The boys were presented with club shorts, a Gaelic ball and a sliotar - so no excuses for not practicing at home! Well done to all the boys and thanks to coaches Willie, Tomás, Alan, Peadar, Shane and John Joe for their work throughout the year.

Our U11 hurlers had their end of year presentation in the clubhouse on Thursday night celebrating a successful year with over 30 kids involved and all making great strides over the season. Guest of honour was Tipperary Senior team coach Tommy Dunne. County football manager John Evans and man of the match in the county final Stephen Duffy also joined us with words of encouragement for all the boys. The boys got great advice from Tommy on how to keep working on their skills and to keep enjoying the game.

Dominican College Wicklow played Scoil Chonglais Baltinglass in a Girls senior football A quarter final in Dunbur Park on Wednesday morning in ideal conditions. Dominican were on top in the first half and led by 4-7 to 1-7 at half time. Scoil Chonglais tried hard to reduce the deficit in the second half but Dominican were worthy winners with the full time score: DCW 9-12 Scoil Chonglais 3-12. DCW now qualify for a semi-final against Coláiste Bhríde Carnew. Well done to the 13 Pat’s girls who played and our ref Eddie Leonard.
