A hesitant Peter Keane has suggested that a Tier 2 in Gaelic football is the way forward.

A lot of debate has been created by whether or not there should be a Tier 2 introduced for weaker counties.

Many of the counties that would be affected by the introduction of a second All-Ireland SFC have given the idea a strong thumbs down.

However, Keane feels that if the Super 8’s are here to stay then it will only make the strong counties stronger and the others will lose more ground behind them.

Keane told the Ulster Herald: “I would be worried though about stronger counties getting stronger if it continues the way it is and maybe bringing in a Tier 2 competition would solve a lot of the problems as you might not need a Super 8’s as such then in Tier 1 if you have another competition for counties.”
