Wexford camogie attracted more unwanted attention yesterday when their senior team refused to play their Division 1 relegation playoff against Offaly on a 3G pitch.

The game was due to take place at the Parnells GAA club in Coolock, but the Slaneysiders were unwilling to play on the all-weather pitch. Both teams were at the venue when the decision to postpone the game was made.

It has been a difficult start to 2019 for Wexford, who were All-Ireland champions as recently as 2012. They were only able to field 13 players against Galway at the start of last month and were duly handed a 45-point hammering. This followed the resignation of former Kilkenny goalkeeper Martin Carey as manager a few days earlier.
