Wexford club player handed 96 week suspension

A Wexford club hurler has been handed a 96 week suspension by the county’s GAA disciplinary committee.
Enniscorthy Rapparees hurler Paddy Connors was handed the lengthy suspension after an investigation by the Wexford CCC into an incident that occurred during the Enniscorthy District Junior B hurling championship semi-final against Duffry Rovers.
Connors is adjudged to have ‘interfered’ with referee John O’Loughlin during the second half of the match and on receiving the match official’s report, they decided to hand out the long suspension.
Disciplinary Committee chairman Aidan O’Leary told the Wexford People that such abuse of match officials would not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident Buffer’s Alley player Thomas Dempsey was handed a 16-week suspension for an incident that involved referee Padraig Byrne in a JHC match against Rapparees on August 5th.
