Anyone hoping for changes at the convention can dream on too. Anyone who has ever been there will know that its full of cronyism and local parish politics (nods and winks) sort of stuff. People get applauded for it being their 50th consecutive attendance at the convention and stuff like that. Its no wonder we are in the position we are in.

It should be pointed out Hackett is managing Kildare minors who are in the Leinster final on Sunday!

Crazy to think Sligo are one win away from a Quarter final with Pat Flanagan in charge.

Got to agree Mick. It`s Wmeath that`s crazy. Even a Russian oligarch wouldn't fire a manager that got you up 3 divisions in 3 seasons.

Sligo beat Limerick and Wicklow. Hardly world beaters all of a sudden

And Limerick.

Where to now? The clubs have had their say, county board still backed Bealin, should the clubs look to oust the top table? How the county board conducts its business is from a different era. Its no wonder the players lack motivation when the show is being run so badly. I've seen comments here about Martin Flanagan and Dessie Dolan, whatever about Flanagan I cannot see Dolan wanting to manage at this early stage since he has played with most of the current panel. Dessie and Peter Tormey had some success with Moate, I would like to see a partnership there maybe for minor for couple of seasons and see how they fair out.

I agree with everything you have said chops except your final point! I have good time for dessie and tormey but neither have achieved anything with the school or any other team. Dessie has never managed a county team and just because your a top class footballer does not mean he will be a quality manager. I am adamant that we need to find a man similar to paidi o se. A man who attracts every player in the county and make them want to play and also to bring a new professional approach. I wish Paul bealin well but I certainly think he was out of his depth this year. The clubs made the right decision last night but let's hope they can find a top replacement.

I do not think its a good idea to even consider Dessie or Flan for a managerial role. They need to spend a bit of time as a selector before that I think to learn the trade so to speak. Another thing, just cos a lad has coached an underage team (tormey) doesn't mean anything in the Adult grade. It's a totally different game and conditions. Lads working, families, managing the setup, dealing with Co Board etc. I'd sooner see these guys learning the ropes from a more experienced manager. I'd be looking at strong characters like Declan Rowley, Dessie Snr, Anthony Cunningham (if available).
