Junior Football Championship

Our junior footballers play St. Paul's on Tuesday evening in our second round fixture. This game is in Springfield with a 19:30 throw in. After a narrow defeat in our opening game, we will be keen to collect our first win on Tuesday. However we are up against very strong opponents who lost very narrowly to CFCW in their opening game. Please come along to support the team on Tuesday evening if you can.

U16 Football Championship

Lilliput Gaels 5-05  Shandonagh 2-12

Our U16's played their first game in this years championship last Monday evening in Ballinagore against a very competitive Shandonagh outfit. We started very well as we struck for three early goals and leave us in the driving seat. However, Shandonagh refused to panic and they recovered to leave the sides level at the break, 3-01 to 1-07. In the second half, it was nip and tuck for long periods. A case of two penalties, one scored by Shandonagh and one missed by ourselves, could have proved costly. However a well taken Peter Murphy goal was crucial in us collecting our first win the the group. This was a decent performance by our lads but there is room for improvement and our next game against Kinnegad will require us to be more clinical in front of goals. Team: Peter Dalton, Cathal Kelly, Ryan Boyne, Sean Kincaid, Odhran Gavigan, Tiernan McMahon, David Maloney, Shane Doran, Peter Reynolds, Cathal Elliffe, Warric Kirby, Cody Finnane, Peter Murphy, Luke Seery, Shane Corcoran, Jack Gannon.

U8 and U10 Blitz

Our U8 and U10 footballers travelled to Ballynacargy on Saturday morning for their latest blitz. Our opponents on the day were Ballynacargy and Garrycastle. The games were evenly matched and enjoyed by all present. Thanks very much to Ballynacargy for organising the blitz and for providing refreshments afterwards.

Club Lotto

Last weeks winning numbers were 1, 12, 19 and 20. We had three match three winners in Lily Mai Ennis, Maree Baker and Caoimhe McCann. Well done to all! Jackpot remains at €15,700. We've had match three winners every week for the last number of weeks, maybe somebody will get that last remaining number correct and claim the jackpot so make sure you're in with your chance to win. Contact Sean Delaney or Martin McCann if you want to support our club lotto.

Westmeath Ladies

Hard luck to Westmeath captain, Fiona Claffey, and her team mates who lost out to a strong Galway side on Sunday in Cusack Park. Westmeath need a win in their final game against Kerry next weekend to progress to the quarter finals of the senior championship.

Fleadh Ceoil

We had great local participation at the Leinster Fleadh last weekend with the following making it through to the All Irelands: Shane Heraty 1st Men's English Singing Over 18; Marie Claire Maxwell 2nd Harp Slow Airs U12; Shane King 1st Storytelling 12-15. Congratulations to everyone who took part in a very successful competition.
