Congratulations
Congratulations to Pádraig Egan on guiding Milltown to promotion to Division 1 of the ACFL at his first attempt last week. A huge achievement for a team that was in Division 3 last year. Milltown will play Castledaly in the Division 2 final in a few weeks' time.
Congratulations also to club stalwart Dermot Smith who celebrated his 50th birthday last week and to current player Brendan Nannery and his wife Sabrina on the birth of their baby boy.
We also congratulate Charlie Moore on his appointment as principal of Dalystown National School. Charlie was a member of the teaching staff at Scoil an Chlochair since 2005, during which time he nurtured and developed the football skills of many of our young players.
Charlie and his teaching colleague Pádraig Seery were over the Scoil an Chlochair team that reached the Cumann na mBunscol Division 2 final in 2012, only to lose to Gainstown. Seven of that team won JFC medals with us last year, while a few more from that side have graduated to our intermediate team this year.
We also wish Brenda Treacy well on her retirement from teaching. Brenda first taught in Kilbeggan in 1983.
Lotto
Last week's lucky numbers were 8, 12, 15 and 17. Leigh Gill, c/o Miriam Griffin, was the only Match 3 winner. This week's draw takes place in The Saddler's Inn with the jackpot standing at €15,000. Tickets costing €2 can be purchased locally. Thank you for your continued support.
Westmeath minors
We wish Mark Wrafter, Damien McLoughlin, Paul Sheehy and the Westmeath minor footballers the best of luck in Saturday's Leinster MFC semi-final against Dublin at TEG Cusack Park. Good luck also to the Westmeath senior footballers in their All-Ireland SFC Round 2 qualifier against Limerick at the same venue.
