Adult Men's Championships
Our Senior men begin their Championship campaign on Saturday when they travel to Mullingar to take on Coralstown-Kinnegad in the first round of the Shay Murtagh Precast Senior Football Championship in Cusack Park, throw-in at 6pm.  In the Junior Championship, Athlone travel to Rosemount next Tuesday, July 24th, to take on the home side in a third round game with a 7.30pm start time.  Please support the lads in these very important matches.

We also host two championship games this Saturday, July 21st.  First up is Tubberclair versus Milltownpass in the Intermediate Championship at 6pm and this will be followed by Rosemount against Maryland in the Senior Championship at 7.30pm.  As our Seniors will be playing in Cusack Park at the same time, we will need volunteers to assist with parking, stewarding and the shop so anybody who can help in any way, please be in Páirc Chiaráin at 5.00pm.

Under 12 Girls
Athlone under 12 girls were in Mullingar last Thursday to take on Shamrocks in the second round of the U12 championship. This was a very even contest from start to finish with both teams having periods of dominance. The Athlone girls were performing well all over the pitch with excellent displays from Gemma Mannion, Merisa Kiripati and Lydia Mulvihill.
At half time Athlone were behind by two points with Kayla Dunne having made a excellent save just before the break. Athlone were the better team in the second half and leveled the game with a goal from Ciara Hughes. Mullingar with time almost up attacked the Athlone goal and the quick actions of Aine Galvin and Abi Joyce cleared the danger. With time up and the teams level Athlone were awarded a 45. As the kick hit the post and went wide the two teams had to settle for a point each.  The final score was Athlone 2-05 Mullingar Shamrocks 3-02

Athlone Team on the night: Ellie Denby, Kayla Dunne, Ceara Dwyer, Therese Farrell, Sadie Gaffey, Áine Galvin, Ciara Hughes, Abi Joyce, Aobha Kenny, Merisa Kiripati, Gemma Mannion, Aine Martin, Lydia Mulvihill
