Ballinagore GAA Notes

July 16, 2018

Intermediate Football Championship

All roads lead to Moynihan Park, Ballinacargy on Saturday evening as Ballinagore take on last years Junior Champions and All Ireland Finalists, Multyfarnham, in the opening round of this years championship. Multyfarnham, managed by Ballinagore's Louis Ennis, will be very difficult opponents on Saturday evening so we will have to be at our best and we need a big turnout of local support to help cheer on the lads. We wish the team and the management team of Ray Sheridan, Kevin Deegan and Colm Maloney the very best of luck on Saturday.

Minor Football Championship

Lilliput Gaels 4-13 St. Mary's, Rochfortbridge 6-08

Our minor footballers were most unlucky to lose by a point to the host team, St. Mary's, last Monday evening in a highly entertaining contest. This was one that definitely got away on us as our lads created at least six great goal scoring opportunities over the hour only to be denied by an in form 'Bridge keeper or to see our shot flash wide. Two goal scoring bursts in either half which yielded three goals in quick succession on each occasion for St. Mary's was enough to see the home side hang on. Our lads will be bitterly disappointed with the result but can take confidence from this performance and can hopefully build on it for their next outing. Team: Jamie Fallon, Conal Fagan, Paddy Doran, Fergal O'Brien, Darragh Seery, Dylan Clarke, Finian Heeney, Eoin Kiernan, Conor Murphy, Aaron Glennon, Eoin Glennon, Morgan Gavigan, Jack Gallagher. Subs used: Jamie Keenan, Eoin Deegan, Cian Gavigan. Rest of panel: Barry Bolger, Peter Reynolds.

Rounders Championship

We played our final championship game against Glynn/Barntown on Sunday 10th June in Tymon Park. We fielded first and held the Wexford based outfit to four runs in the first innings. However, we only managed one run ourselves and it continued in that vein as by the end of the pen-ultimate innings we had just three runs scored as opposed to Glynn/Barntowns twenty-seven. We scored a further six runs in the final innings but it was too little too late and we were beaten on a scoreline of Glynn/Barntown 30, Ballinagore 9. Team: Shane Heraty (Catcher, 1 Run), Declan Claffey (Pitcher, 2 Runs), Martin Furey (Short Stop), Tally Flynn capt. (1st Base, 1 Run), Colette Claffey (2nd Base), Dympna Claffey (3rd Base, 2 Runs), Enda Claffey (Left Outfield, 2 Runs), David Langan (Centre Outfield), Aisling Heraty (Right Outfield, 1 Run).
