Division 3 v Tyrrellspass

A dominant second half performance gave us our first win in Division 3 of the All-County League at Tyrrellspass' expense in Tyrrellspass last Friday evening.

Picking up from where we left off against Garrycastle when we came from 10 points down to earn a share of the spoils, we hit top gear in the second half  to run out 2-19 to 1-12 winners after taking a slender 0-9 to 0-8 lead into the break. Because of injuries, exams and county team commitments, we haven't been at full strength in any of games so far this year, but the last two performances have been very encouraging and bode well with the JFC which is just around the corner. Before then, we will be aiming to consolidate our Division 3 status. Our remaining games are against Ballinagore, Killucan and Multyfarnham.

Team: Thomas Barrett; Ryan Coughlan, James Fox, Darragh Coffey; Niall Carey, Shaun Pidgeon, Colin Draper; Brendan McMahon, Dean Fitzgerald; David Fennell, Kevin Smith, Keith Corcoran; John Dinnegan, Fergal Fox, Paul Fennell. Subs used: Emmet Dalton and Martin Ward.

Division 6A v Milltown

We were left to rue some poor finishing in last Saturday evening's Division 6A tie at St. James' Park when Milltown prevailed on a 1-10 to 0-11 scoreline.

Fatigue was also a factor in our defeat as most the team had also played the previous evening against Tyrrellspass. On a side note, it was good to see Tadhg O'Gorman back in action after a long absence.

Team: Thomas Barrett; Ryan Coughlan, Darragh Coffey, Diarmuid Egan; Martin Ward, James Fox, Niall Carey; Dean Fitzgerald, Colin Draper; Kevin Smith, Fergal Fox, Keith Corcoran; Jason Maguire, Emmet Dalton, John Dinnegan. Subs used: Robbie Dalton, James Claffey, Shane Gorry, Tadhg O'Gorman and Jamie Bolger.

Underage

We wish to advise parents that all children participating in training and games need to wear a gumshield as they will not be covered for dental insurance if they don't. We hope all children will have them for our next U6, U8 and U10 coaching session which takes place at the usual time (6pm) on Thursday. We host our first Go Games U8 blitz of the year this Saturday, May 26 at 11am.

Kilbeggan Shamrocks children's replica jerseys are also now on sale through the club at a reduce cost of €25 (they're €35 to buy online). There is a limited amount available which will be sold on a first-come basis.

The Kilbeggan Shamrocks ladies football team are holding a sponsored car wash at the M6 Service Station, Tullamore Road this Saturday, May 26. All support for the fundraiser would be greatly appreciated.
