Underage Training
Underage training continues this Saturday for U6 to U12 age groups from 5pm-6pm.
Division 1
Last Saturday in wintery conditions we got our first league win of the 2018 campaign against Tyrrellspass. The Downs played against the wind in the opening half and defended strong throughout ensuring they were in contention going in at the 1-02 to 0-03 down at the break. The Downs were reduced to fourteen early in the second half with Niall Nolan receiving a harsh second yellow card. The Downs reacted to this set back excellently through an Adam Loughlin Penalty and a further goal from Luke Folan in quick succession, this put The Downs in control and never looked like losing from this point on. Full Time 2-08 to 1-03.
Well done
A big well done to the St Marys CBS side which won the Leinster A Junior Title last week. The club are proud that ten of our players were involved on the Panel. Also Liam Moran had success with his school St Joseph's Rochfortbridge in their win in the North Leinster Junior B football victory.
Sympathy
The club extends sincere sympathy to former club chairperson and long serving club activist Peter Shanley and family on the passing of his mother Ethel, late of Hillside Drive. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Gilsenan's Funeral Home on Tuesday 20th March from 2.30 o'c followed by Removal to the Cathedral of Christ the King arriving at 5 o'c. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon followed by burial in Marlinstown Cemetery.
