Kilbeggan Shamrocks GAA Notes

January 14, 2018

Thanks for the memories Keith

It's the end of an era for our club with the news that Keith Gorry is going to finish his playing career with St. Mary's, Rochfortbridge. Keith's transfer was approved at last Monday night's monthly committee meeting. He recently became a selector with the St. Mary's senior team and expressed a desire to play with their second team in the coming year.

After 25 years playing adult football with Kilbeggan, Keith owes us absolutely nothing. The Arden native, who has been living in Rochfortbridge for the past decade, has given his heart and soul to the club since coming in from Rahugh National School and playing his first game at U12 level in the mid-1980s. He will go down as one of our greatest players and also represented his county with distinction at U16, minor and U21 level. In addition, Keith has coached ladies football and underage teams in the club and has also served on the committee.

The club wishes Keith all the best with his new club and is delighted that he will be remaining involved with us as joint-treasurer and as a member of our lotto team.

Niall O'Brien elected minor board chairman

We wish Niall O'Brien all the best in his new role as county minor committee chairman. Niall has been a Kilbeggan stalwart down the years, first as a player and then as a selector. His father John served as club chairman for over 20 years.

Scór

Scór is officially up-and-running in Kilbeggan after Seoidín Rochford, Lisa Ennis, Sarah Fox and Brian Egan represented the club in the Scór na nÓg Question Time county final last Friday evening. We will also be entering the Question Time and Ballad Group competitions in the upcoming Scór Sinsear county semi-finals and are looking for anyone who who would be interested in taking part in the Solo Singing, Instrumental Music and Recitation disciplines.

Lotto

Last week's lucky numbers were 1, 3, 20 and 23. Brian Daly and Orla Claffey were the Match 3 winners. This week's draw takes place in the Saddler's Inn when the jackpot will be €12,450. Thank you for your continued support.

O'Byrne Cup final

Best of luck to Nigel Scally and his Westmeath team-mates in next Sunday's O'Byrne Cup final against Meath in Portlaoise.
