David Reidy posted 1-12 as Limerick qualified for next weekend's Munster SHL final against Cork with a 1-27 to 1-19 victory over Clare in Sixmilebridge this afternoon.

Adrian Breen and Tom Morrissey also scored four points each for John Kiely's men before a bumper crowd of 3,312. Reidy's goal with 13 minutes remaining had ended the game as a contest before Aron Shanagher netted a late consolation for the home side.

The 2018 All-Ireland champions signalled their intent by racing into a 0-9 to 0-1 lead after only 16 minutes thanks to some excellent shooting from Breen, Morrissey and Darren O'Connell. But Clare battled their way back into contention with scores from Stephen O'Halloran, Niall Deasy, Shanagher and Diarmuid Ryan to cut the gap to four, 0-9 to 0-13, at half-time.

Deasy, who finished with 0-11 to his credit, and Michael O'Neill halved the deficit on the restart before Breen nailed two more frees. Colin Guilfoyle replied for the Banner, but they had fallen five points in arrears before Reidy's ground shot beat Eibhear Quilligan in the Clare goal to put the result beyond doubt.

Shanagher pulled a goal back for Brian Lohan's men with three minutes to go, but it was a case of too little, too late.

After losing to Cork in the first round, Waterford overpowered Kerry by 4-23 to 1-10 at Austin Stack Park to give Liam Cahill his first win as manager.

Already out of contention for a place in the final, the Deise were sluggish in the opening period and only led by 0-11 to 1-5 at the break with Shane Conway getting the Kerry goal from a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

But with Stephen Bennett helping himself to 1-8 - a tally matched by Conway - the visitors cut loose in the second half with Callum Lyons, substitute Dessie Hutchinson and Darragh Lyons also finding the net.
