Dick Guiry was eyeing a place in the Munster club SFC final after The Nire came through yesterday's quarter-final against Adare with flying colours.

With Miltown-Malbay up next in Fraher Field next Sunday, The Nire manager acknowledged that his side are in with a great chance of reaching the provincial decider.

“We have a very good level of fitness. We will have them in Dungarven, which you would have to say will be an advantage but it’s not an advantage that will win you the game," he told the Irish Examiner.

“We don’t know much about them overall but roll on next Sunday. Hopefully we will get the lads into a pool and get them loosened up again as quickly as possible.”

Guiry added: “The other side of the draw is the harder side of the draw, no disrespect to Waterford, Limerick and Clare but that’s the reality.

“Anything can happen. We played Dr Crokes in a Munster final a couple of years ago and went down badly. We didn’t do ourselves justice that day. Hopefully, we can get back to another one and it would top off a great year.”
