And then there were eight - here are the players that stood out for us in round 4 of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers…
1. Graham Brody (Laois)
If the All-Star awards were handed out in July, the O'Moore County man would be a strong contender for the number one jersey.
2. Peter Kelly (Kildare)
Another effective performance from the 2010 All-Star who has really stood up and been counted for the Lilywhites.
3. Drew Wylie (Monaghan)
The no-nonsense Farney County full-back proved to be the rock on which many a Laois attack perished in Pairc Tailteann.
4. Colm Begley (Laois)
It wasn't to be for Begley and Laois against Monaghan but progress has been made this year under John Sugrue.
5. Karl O'Connell (Monaghan)
The attack-minded O'Connell exerted a big influence on proceedings in Navan and kicked two points for Malachy O'Rourke's side.
6. Frank Burns (Tyrone)
The Pomeroy clubman has very much been to the fore throughout the Red Hands' march through the back door.
7. Kevin Flynn (Kildare)
The newcomer to the Kildare half-back line enjoyed an industrious outing as they secured their place in the Super 8s.
8. Enda Smith (Roscommon)
With a contribution of 2-1, Smith's finger prints were all over the Rossies' thrilling victory over Armagh in O'Moore Park.
9. Padraig Hampsey (Tyrone)
The versatile Hampsey and his Tyrone team-mates inflicted a comprehensive 16-point defeat on the Rebels.
10. Rory Grugan (Armagh)
Grugan may have spurned a penalty opportunity against Roscommon but he took the game to the opposition throughout and kicked five points.
11. Cathal Cregg (Roscommon)
The experienced Cregg rolled back the years to produce a display of the top drawer variety and raised three white flags.
12. Ciarain Murtagh (Roscommon)
Along with Smith and Cregg, Murtagh - who sent over 0-6 - pointed the way for Kevin McStay's team.
13. Conor McAliskey (Tyrone)
McAliskey showed no mercy to Cork when hitting 1-6 (1-2 from play) before his 50th minute withdrawal in the Portlaoise rout.
14. Daniel Flynn (Kildare)
The supremely talented Flynn has been criticised for a lack of consistency in the past but he has delivered big time for the Lilywhites in recent weeks.
15. Conor McManus (Monaghan)
Clipped over five points as the O'Moore County were put to the sword in clinical fashion yesterday.
