Tir Chonaill Gaels manager Paul Coggins admits that it has always been a dream of his to bring a club from London to play in Dr Hyde Park.

The Roscommon native will fulfil that dream on Sunday afternoon as TCG take on Roscommon champions Clann na nGael in the Connacht club SFC quarterfinal.

Following their London SFC final replay win over Fulham Gaels last weekend, Coggins has been looking forward to the trip home where he feels his charges can give a good account of themselves.

“It’s a great honour for me, and I’m really looking forward to it,” said the former London manager. “The people of Roscommon have always supported us.

“I’m not sure how they’ll be on Sunday. Clann are representing the county, but I’m a Michael Glaveys clubman and hopefully there’ll be a few from that part of the world there to shout us on. On a personal level, it’s something I’ve really wanted - to bring a club from London to play in the Hyde, and I assure you the lads will do themselves proud and we’re looking forward to it immensely.”

The Tir Chonaill Gaels side will also include another Roscommon native as Kilbride’s Anthony McDermott who lined out with the Rossies eleven years ago, is part of the London club’s defence.
