Dulwich Harps club notes

September 17, 2018

A big week coming up for our senior men’s team as they take on Tír Chonaill Gaels Juniors in the Toureen Junior Championship final this Sunday in Ruislip.

The two sides have met twice this season already and on both occasions the North West London outfit came out on top beating the Harps in the Mularky and McArdle cup finals. However the lads been working hard all year and after retaining their division 2 status for next season, they will be going into the game with a quiet confidence of causing an upset.

The game is scheduled for a 2:30pm throw in time. The lads would greatly appreciate as many friends, family and supporters to attend as possible to help cheer them over the line and bring the cup back to South London.

Training continues for the lads this week in Prendergast Ladywell School on Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7:45pm. As always, we are on the lookout for potential players and if you are interested in joining our welcoming club, contact Enda on 07522 723765.

Our ladies are continuing to train away and still have an outside chance of securing a league title. Their next fixture is on the 29th of September (opponent TBC).  The girls are currently training in Island Gardens on Thursday evenings from 8-9pm and on Peckham Rye on Saturday morning at 11am. For more information on training or playing contact Maeve on 07907 301806.

Dulwich Harps and Fulham Irish will be running two 7 a side tournaments (Ladies’ and Men’s) on the 27th of October in aid of our current ladies player Siobhan McCann who is currently battling colorectal cancer. The event will take place at Tír Chonaill Gaels GAA club in Greenford, who have kindly donated their facilities for the day. The cost of entry per person is only £20 (max participants 12 per team) and each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 4 games.  There are limited spaces available on the day so please have all entries and registration fees paid by Sunday 21st of October to avoid disappointment. For more information on registering a team, please email [email protected] or contact Maeve on 07907301806.

We will also be approaching local businesses and organisations to sponsor the event. If your business or organisation is interested in donating sponsorship to this worthy cause, please contact David on 07502 106833.

If you are unable to attend the event on the day, we would kindly appreciate a donation to help Siobhan take on her toughest opponent. You can donate by following the attached link: https://uk.gofundme.com/help-beat-siobhans-toughestopponent

All proceeds raised will go directly to Siobhan to fund the alternative therapy treatments that she so desperately needs.

Fulham Irish will also be hosting a Live GAA talk show on Saturday 24th of November in aid of Siobhan. The venue is to be confirmed but already we have some big names lined up, so be sure to save the date!

Our annual end of year dinner dance has also been confirmed for this season and will take place on Saturday 10th of November in the Bromley Court Hotel. If you wish to reserve a ticket for the event please contact Tara on 07583 797080.
