Killeeshil club notes

October 16, 2019

We must begin the notes this week by congratulating our Senior Ladies who won the Intermediate League Title on Saturday (12th) in Killyclogher by defeating Omagh. The ladies who a few weeks ago had won the Championship trophy, took home the League trophy when they comprehensively outplayed Omagh in the final. The foundations of the win were laid in a very impressive first half when we hit 4-10 to Omagh’s 0-2. Grainne Rafferty scored 3-2, whilst Louise Kelly bagged 1-8 of our total score. Alannah Donnelly and Chloe Collins also found the net while Shannon Stephenson, Catherine McCusker, Bronagh Mckenna, Orla Mulgrew and Eimear Mallon were among our point scorers. Our girls were dominant all over the field as we had too much pace and strength for our opponents. Final score was Killeeshil 7-18, Omagh 0-3. Well done to the whole panel of girls and their management team of Ciaran Nugent, Gary McGonnell and Damien Donnelly on what has been an amazing season when they went undefeated within the county and finished the season by winning the Double of League and Championship. Congratulations everyone, the whole club are extremely proud of you and your achievements this year.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support of this very vital fundraiser.

The Under 13 boys are training on Thursday night from 7>8 pm as they prepare for a home match on Sunday morning against Kildress with a 11.30 throw-in.

Our senior men made the long journey away to Plumbridge last Saturday (12th) evening to face Glenelly in the league. It was a testing game for The Hoops against a well-drilled Glenelly side and there was never very much between the sides. A first half goal from Tómas Hoy and points from Pascal Donaghy and Micheal O’Neill saw us lead 1-10 to 0-8 at the break. The second half saw Glenelly put us under pressure but we worked hard turning over possession numerous times and goals from Peter Scullion and Mark Monaghan along with a couple of Ciaran Rafferty points meant we always led during the second half. Final score: Killeeshil 3-19 Glenelly 3-15. Training continues this Tuesday and Friday nights at 7.30pm for all senior and reserve players.

Anybody who ordered a Cairde Cill Íseal jacket, but has not yet collected it, please be advised they can be collected next Monday 21st October at 9pm from the back room in Community Centre.

We ask every Killeeshil Gael to say a prayer or just spare a thought for the sick and their families within our Parish.
