McGinley on Solan ticket

Former Tyrone player Enda McGinley speaking to media

Mike Solan will have former Tyrone star Enda McGinley in his backroom team if he succeeds in his bid to become the next Mayo football manager.

According to the Sunday Independent, three-time All-Ireland winner McGinley will be involved if Solan is appointed as Stephen Rochford's replacement in the coming weeks. Solan, who led Mayo to All-Ireland U21 glory two years ago, is also expected to have his Ballaghadereen clubmate John Ginty in his backroom team.

Solan and former senior boss James Horan, whose Westport charges suffered a one-point defeat to Aidan O'Shea's Breaffy in yesterday's Mayo SFC quarter-final, are the only two nominees for what is one of the most high-profile jobs in inter-county management.
