Sunday 16th September 2018, Croke Park Dublin, 1:45pm. That’s certainly not where it all began, but that’s where our very talented Tyrone Senior Ladies brought us to, waving flags, singing, cheering and witnessing a superb team win The Mary Quinn Memorial Cup, beating Meath in the All Ireland decider 6:08 to 1:14. Section 334 in the Hogan Stand had well over 150 Killeeshil supporters, 70 of which travelled down in a coach from the Club, all huddled together, cheering on their own Club players, Emma Mulgrew and Grainne Rafferty and the Tyrone team, blow Meath away with an outstanding display of attacking, unselfish football. The nerves were settled after Grainne played a neat one two allowing Neamh Woods to hammer in the first goal, Tyrone took control and Grainne bagged her own goal later in the half and finished the game with an impressive 1:02, two great performances from our own two girls and and great team win was just reward for the hard work they have put in over these last few years and they can now call themselves All Ireland Champions, making our Club very proud. Massive congratulations to the Tyrone team from all at Killeeshil GFC. Thanks to Aishling McCrory for all her work in organising the coach and tickets to the final and a clap on the back to all the children who attended and never gave one ounce of bother throughout the 11 hours they were in the care of the Club.

Another big game awaits our Senior Men on Saturday when they take on Beragh in the Junior Championship Semi Final. That game is in Killyclogher at the slightly earlier time of 2:30pm so please give yourself plenty of time to get to the game which is preceded by Clogher v Newtownstewart at 1pm. Best of luck to Damian, Conall and the team.

The U16 men played away to Drumragh on Saturday in the League Quarter Final losing out on a final scoreline of 2:14 to 2:10. Drumragh started the game strongly and had built up an early 0:08 to 0:02 lead. The lads started to find their groove and clawed the deficit back to 2 points but Drumragh responded with a goal on the stroke of half time to lead by 1:08 to 0:06. Thanks to great work from Ryan Nugent the Hoops started the second half with 4 unanswered points to narrow the gap to 1. Half forward Luke Donnelly then rattled the crossbar with a fierce shot which rebounded to safety. It was nip and tuck for the remainder of the game with a Michael Gormley penalty and a Ryan Nugent goal keeping the lads within striking distance. Drumragh seemed to respond at critical times and tagged on the last score of the game to win by 4 points. Next on the agenda is a home game against Gael Naomh Padraig in the Championship on Sunday 23rd at 4pm.

U12 lads travelled to Dunmoyle on Saturday past to take part in the Errigal Tournament, the lads enjoyed a great days football in fine weather conditions losing out to eventual Shield winners Truagh in the quarter finals. The team are in action again this Saturday in the Moy Tournament.

The U8 men travelled to Moy also in Saturday morning for the final competition of the season. With 17 lads togged out for the day they played games against Galbally, Lavey, Clonduff, Derrynoose and Pearse Ogs. The competition was stiff and unfortunately the team didn’t progress from the group stages but gave their all in every minute of every game. Thanks to everyone who helped out with the U8’s in any way throughout the year, your assistance was invaluable and very much appreciated.

U16 girls played Aodh Ruadh on Thursday past at home in the League and after a good honest battle lost out by 4 points. This weeks game against Errigal has been postponed any information about games will be given to the team at training times.
