McShane rebuffs complacency claims

Tyrone's Connor McAliskey and Cathal McShane celebrate in the All-Ireland SFC Round 4 qualifier against Cork

Any theories that Tyrone may be complacent against Roscommon in their Super 8's clash this weekend have been refuted by Red Hand forward Cathal McShane.

The new format kicks off this weekend as Tyrone head for Croke Park to take on the Rossies tomorrow with the Ulster side being tipped to pick up an early win.

That is a strange assumption given the performance of Roscommon against Armagh last weekend where they were excellent.

And McShane explained to the Ulster Herald that it would be silly on their behalf to look beyond this opening round fixture.

"No way will we be underestimating them or looking ahead to the other two matches," said McShane. "Roscommon are a very experienced team and have been involved in the latter stages the last few years winning the Connacht title.

"They were also in the Division Two final this year and impressed beating Cavan. They racked up plenty of big scores there. Against Galway if they had been more clinical they could have come away with a better result too. We will need to prepare just as well for them as Dublin or Donegal."
