Having returned from the sunny climes of the Cancun resort in Mexico, Waterford hurlers have returned to action.

Last night, they played Kerry at the Mallow Sports Complex as they begin their preparation for the forthcoming National Hurling League.

The Deise were busy working before the Christmas break and now the holiday is out of the way, the focus is on the NHL 1A clash against Wexford in less than three weeks time.

Their decision not to play in the Munster SHL will see Waterford play catch up on the majority of teams who have chosen to take part in their respective early season competitions.

Waterford will continue their preparations with a challenge against Dublin in Carriganore next Friday night and Limerick and Munster club champions Na Piarsaigh on the following Sunday at a venue yet to be decided.
