Tyrone captain Dermot Begley is adamant that they must build on their excellent win over Mayo in the Nicky Rackard Cup last weekend.

The Ulster side caused something of a surprise when defeating one of the favourites for the fourth-tier All-Ireland championship.

Now, they take on Sligo this Saturday and a win would see them on the verge of a semi-final spot, but Begley told the Ulster Herald that they are not getting carried away by the win over Mayo.

“It will be tough, the boys gave it their all against Mayo so there is a few knocks, but we have prepared well for Sligo,” said Begley.

“We know that will be just as tough. We have met them a few times and there is never much between us. It’s another big game for us, they won at the weekend too so this game will be crucial to the final outcome of the group.

“We have taken it one game at a time all season. We did that through the league and it’s the same in the championship. Sligo is next and that’s the way our preparation will be.”
