Defeat a bitter pill for O'Connor

Kerry senior hurling manager Fintan O'Connor

Losing a final is always hard to take but Kerry manager Fintan O’Connor is eager for his charges to look forward and not backwards.

Westmeath took the HL2A title at the expense of Kerry in last Sunday’s final and obviously all involved with the Kingdom were bitterly disappointed by the outcome.

O’Connor admitted to the Kerryman that a defeat always hurts a bit more when it is in the final, but he added that they cannot dwell on the loss for too long as they turn their attention to the Joe McDonagh Cup.

“Look we’re very disappointed. We’ll just have to go again,” stated O’Connor. He added: “We’ll go on to the Joe McDonagh Cup and we’ll try to improve.

“We will be playing Westmeath down the road and we’ll look forward to meeting them again.”
