Waterford captain Noel Connors has revealed that he didn’t watch last year’s All-Ireland SHC final or the rest of the games throughout the year.

Connors interests ended when Waterford were eliminated from the Munster senior hurling championship.

While the GAA community were enthralled by an exhilarating championship, Connors revealed to the Waterford News & Star that he had no interest in who came out on top in the rest of the games.

“I’m probably a strange character in the sense that I wouldn’t really watch too many other matches,” stated the new Waterford captain.

“I would very much stay away from what’s happening external to ourselves. So I didn’t have too much interest in previous championships as well. It’s probably a strange one to hear that.”

Connors added that he didn’t even watch last year’s All-Ireland SHC final between Limerick and Galway which the Shannonsiders won.

“I was sitting upstairs in the office and Siobhan was downstairs and she was roaring and shouting at the television. I could hear things and I would shout down, every so often, ‘what’s the score?’.

“Maybe it’s the bitterness in me that I wouldn’t like to see other teams winning an All-Ireland. I don’t know what it is. It’s just part of my character. I wouldn’t be too interested unless we were in it.”
