Waterford’s Austin Gleeson has set his sights on winning the All-Ireland SHC title in 2019.

Gleeson had all last summer to think about this year’s championship after Waterford made their exit during the Munster SHC.

However, the Mount Sion clubman feels that he saw enough in the 2018 championship to believe that there is nothing between any of the top counties.

“There’s only a puck of the ball between every team. There’s no hot favourites like there was ten or twelve years ago,” stated Gleeson.

“Everyone is on a level playing field. Last year, it was Waterford and Tipp that were knocked out of Munster. The year before, Tipp only got beat by a point in the All-Ireland semi final and we were in the All-Ireland final.

“It just goes to show how competitive Munster is and how competitive the All-Ireland is. We firmly believe that we can win the All-Ireland in 2019 and we’re going to give it a good shot.”
