Kilkenny manager Brian Cody has dispelled theories that their were inspirational speeches given during half time of the Leinster SHC final replay against Galway.

The Cats looked dead and buried coming up to half time as they trailed by 1-12 to 0-03 and they were still nine points down at the short whistle.

However, as expected, Kilkenny came storming back in the second half and had the gap down to just one point by the 54th minute.

Galway did kick on to retain their title, but the second half will be long talked about and many felt that a rousing half time speech rallied Cody's charges, but the Kilkenny manager stated that there was nothing so dramatic in the dressingroom.

"There was nothing fantastic said in the dressingroom or anything like that," Cody explained to the Kilkenny People.

"The response of our players I thought was magnificent in the second half when we fought against the best team in the country. The lads just had to get going, get into their stride and get a confidence.

"We got a point immediately after half-time and suddenly the players began to realise; 'Look it, we're in the game - let's get going and let's keep going'."
