Down 2-22
London 1-23
Down made it two wins from two in the Christy Ring Cup against London in Ruislip thanks to a late Daithi Sands goal.
Two points each from Kevin O'Loughlin and Shane Lawless helped the hosts to an early 0-4 to 0-1 lead before a Danny Toner goal edged Down into a 1-6 to 0-8 lead with 10 minutes to go to half-time. However, London hit back with a goal of their own from Cork native Aaron Sheehan to take a 1-12 to 1-10 advantage into the break.
Five unanswered points on the restart propelled Down into a 1-15 to 1-13 lead before the Exiles equalised through efforts from Cillian Burke and Colin Nelson.
Nelson then put London back in front and Sheehan had them three points up, 1-21 to 1-18, before Sands netted at the end of normal time to give Down a dramatic win.
