Stephen Wallace has been removed from his role as Offaly senior football manager.

The news was confirmed in a brief statement issued by the Offaly County Board this evening: "Following a meeting of Coiste Bainisti Uibh Fhaili on Wednesday 16th May 2018, the decision was made that Stephen Wallace should not continue as Manager of the Offaly Senior Football Team.

"An Interim Management Team will be appointed as soon as possible."

There have been numerous reports of player unrest following the Faithful County's shock Leinster SFC first round loss to Wicklow at the weekend while Nigel Dunne issued a statement earlier today in which he denied leaving the ground after being substituted during the first half of that game.

Wallace was appointed to the role last September and watched on from the stand last Sunday as he is currently serving an eight-week ban for an incident during a Kerry club game in April.
