Dean Healy will once again captain the Wicklow senior footballers in 2020.

Healy led the Garden County in 2019 and new manager Davy Burke has retained him in that position, while goalkeeper Mark Jackson has come in as vice-captain.

“Dean is a very impressive character,” Burke told the Wicklow People. “He is a serious footballer, first and foremost, and for me, the number one criteria for any captain is that you have to guarantee your place.

“When St Pat’s lost in the Leinster championship, Dean was in the gym with us the next night. It just shows the kind of attitude of the man, and the work ethic of him. He is a leader. He’s a smashing fella, and he really drives the standards. He doesn’t do a huge amount of talking, but he does his talking through actions.”
