If Fermanagh are to get anything from their opening FL2 clash away to Kildare then they will have to be at their best, according to their manager Ryan McMenamin.

Speaking to the Fermanagh Herald ahead of Sunday’s clash at St Conleth’s Park, the former Tyrone defender believes that his charges will have to show the same determination that they did when the sides clashed at Brewster Park last year.

McMenamin added that Kildare will be hoping to make their home ground a fortress starting this weekend and he has called on his players to rise to the challenge.

“Kildare will probably feel Newbridge will add a three or four points swing to them. We have to set our stall out early with them. We will have to go down here and show the same sort of grit we showed in the Kildare game in Brewster last year where the lads worked well. We have to go down and stick to our game-plan, play real hard football and see where that takes us.

“We know it’s a massive challenge, they’re one of the favourites to go up, probably one of the favourites to make the Super 8s in the summer.”
