Rochdale manager Brian Barry-Murphy

The son of Cork GAA legend Jimmy Barry-Murphy will takes his Rochdale underdogs to Old Trafford for a Carabao Cup tie against Manchester United next Wednesday evening.

Brian Barry-Murphy, who played for Preston North End, Southend, Sheffield Wednesday, Bury and Rochdale and represented the Republic of Ireland at U21 level, is looking forward to the David v Golaith clash at the 'Theatre of Dreams'.

"Half of Cork is coming over," the 41-year-old Rochdale manager joked in the Sunday Times.

"Why would you want to suppress that or tell the lads they couldn't enjoy it. All the hard work has to be for something, so if it is not for the chance to enjoy themselves, then what's the point?"
