The only bright spot on an otherwise disappointing day for Mayo in Killarney was Cillian O'Connor setting a new all-time scoring championship record of 23-285.
The Ballintubber clubman's six-point haul saw him overtake Kerry's Colm Cooper at the summit of the top scorer chart. However, he could have scored more, having rattled the crossbar with a goal attempt and also having had a penalty brilliantly tipped over for a point by Kerry 'keeper in the closing stages.
Mayo's 10-point defeat, 0-15 to 1-21, to a David Clifford-inspired Kingdom leaves them needing to beat Meath and Donegal in their remaining Super 8s ties to have any chance of qualifying for the All-Ireland semi-finals.
