Ballyhale Shamrocks manager Henry Shefflin can see comparisons between his charges and All-Ireland club SHC final opponents Borris-Ileigh.

In what will be the first ever All-Ireland club SHC decider involving Kilkenny and Tipperary teams, Shefflin pointed to the fact that Borris-Ileigh is a rural community just like their own.

The ten-time All-Ireland winner feels that the Tipp champions are in a similar position to where Ballyhale were last year.

Thus, he feels they are in a good position going into the game in that they are under no pressure.

“The blend between the older and younger players, pus their inter-county players, is really good and they are performing at a phenomenal level,” Shefflin told the Kilkenny People.

“That is what we had last year. The momentum then of the Ryans’ and McCormacks’ playing so well around Brendan Maher and Dan McCormack is something. There is a huge story here about Borris-Ileigh and the journey they are on.

“There is a great connection between club and community. It is a serious hurling area. That is the brilliant part of the GAA club championships. We are all facing teams similar to ourselves. That is the beauty of the competition.”
