Niall Carew has put together a high-calibre backroom team in his bid to become Tipperary's next football manager.

The Kildare native will have Ger Brennan and Peter Creedon as his selectors if he's chosen as Liam Kearns' successor, the Irish Independent reports.

Carew, who served as a Kildare selector under Kieran McGeeney before going on to manage Waterford and Sligo, previously worked with former Dublin All-Ireland winning centre back Brennan when he managed the Maynooth University team he played on.

West Cork native Creedon managed Tipp between 2012 and '15, and is familiar with many of the current Tipp squad.

Tipperary's 2011 All-Ireland minor winning manager David Power, who went on to manage the Wexford seniors, is also believed to be in the running.
