Tipperary and Loughmore-Castleiney hurler Noel McGrath admits that winning a county title with your club is up there with any achievement he has gained in the game.

McGrath has won two All-Ireland SHC medals, while he has won a Munster club and two Tipperary SHC medals along with three in football.

And the Loughmore-Castleiney captain told the Tipperary Star that playing in a county or Mid-Tipperary final is every bit as exciting as running out on the hallowed turf of Croke Park on All-Ireland final day.

This weekend, McGrath will lead his club out against Thurles Sarsfields in the Mid-Tipp SHC final and he is determined to drive the side to glory.

“From growing up I always remember the Mid final as being a massive game, and it still is. Some of the best games in the county were played in the Mid final back through the years and it is one that everybody wants to get their hands on. We will be no different on Sunday,” said McGrath.

He added: “It is a massive game - we haven’t been in the Mid final in a few years and it is nice to get back into it again and hopefully get a good performance.”
