All-Ireland U21 hurling championship winning captain Colin English says Tipperary have banished their Munster final demons.

Having lost the provincial final to Cork by 13 points, the Premier County delivered a stunning display against the Rebels in Sunday's All-Ireland final to capture their tenth national title in the U21 grade.

"I think we knew that coming out of Cork that we never got hurling," the Fr Sheehy's clubman told The Irish Examiner. "I suppose in essence the game was over after the first five minutes. We never got hurling and we didn't justify the preparation and the potential we had. But the Munster final couldn't be further from our minds now.

"We said it from the start of the year, the courage and the character in this team, you could never write us off. Coming in, we were underdogs, I suppose we were underdogs all year, and rightly so after the loss in the Munster final but just the heart and desire in that team, we weren't leaving that after us.

"Tipperary's an unbelievable hurling county. To see everyone out there and to see young kids go mad over the cup and grown adults in tears, it's unbelievable. This is what Tipperary hurling people deserve. Look we're delighted, we couldn't be happier."
