Saturday is a big day for our women’s intermediate footballers. They will play St Michael’s in the Sligo LGFA county intermediate championship final at Kilcoyne Park in Tubbercurry at 2pm. Mike Healy’s team reached the final by finishing top of the round robin group with three wins and a draw. We wish the players the very best of luck on Saturday. The team would appreciate big club support in Tubbercurry for what is their biggest game of the year.

 

Our senior men’s footballers were beaten by Coolaney/Mullinabreena last Sunday evening in the championship by 1-16 to 1-11 in their third group game. The team led by five points at half-time but the game changed following a red card for team captain Neil Ewing. Despite the loss, the seniors are already assured of a place in the quarter-finals. They play Coolera/Strandhill in their remaining group game in two weeks time.

 

The boys under 16 footballers are through to the county ‘A’ championship semi-finals after an emphatic 3-14 to 1-1 quarter-final win over Tourlestrane last Monday.

 

The girls under 16 footballers continue their championship campaign this week with a home game against Eastern Harps.

 

The girls under 14 footballers will play their county semi-final away to Eoghan Rua on Monday, September 9th. 

 

Our under 12 footballers battled gamely last week in their semi-final replay before losing out to St Mary’s. This is a talented a coming team. Well done to al the players on reaching the play-offs.

 

Saturday morning GAA nursery coaching has resumed after the summer break at Rathcormac NS. The sessions are open to girls and boys at the following times: Players for 2013, 2014 and 2015: 9:45am to 10:30am.

Players born 2009-2012: 10:30am to 11:30am.

 

Well done to all our younger members who performed with such distinction at the recent national community games finals in Limerick. A special mention for Castleconnor’s Caolan Mulrooney who won gold in the boys under 8 60 metres. He’s obviously as talented with a pair of runners has his dad Jason (a former GAA club stalwart of ours - and no sprinting slouch himself) is with figures!

 

The club extends its very best wishes to club player Kevin Davey as he continues his recovery from his recent accident.
