St Molaise manager Willie Gormley believes that his side can cause an upset in this weekend’s Sligo SFC quarterfinal against defending champions Tourlestrane.

To say that St Molaise are underdogs would be an under statement as they face the form team in the championship over the last few years.

Gormley knows that they will be up against it, but he told the Sligo Champion if they can play to the best of their ability, they will be there or thereabouts.

“They are one of the main clubs in Sligo the last number of years and their record tells the story. They have strong players all over the pitch and have two very astute managers in Eamonn and Gerry McGowan,” said Gormley.

“It will be a very difficult game for us but one that as a group we are all looking forward to and hopefully we will be able to match their intensity, and be competitive to the final whistle.

“The senior championship group stages have been very competitive with only a kick of a ball between teams at the end of some of the games. The quarterfinal finals are a different ball game with every team knowing that it is all about progressing to the next round. And if you are defeated that will be the end of your year for 2018.”
