After failing to make an impact 12 months ago, Enda Smith and his Roscommon team-mates are determined to ‘represent’ themselves better in the 2019 version of the Super 8s.

The primrose and blues qualified for the quarter-final round-robin phase via the qualifiers last year and subsequently suffered heavy defeats to Tyrone, Donegal and Dublin.

As Connacht champions, they will be aiming to make amends for that disappointed showing when they play host to the winners of Tyrone v Cavan on July 13.

“I've said it before - it was just real frustration and we were embarrassed by how it went,” the Nestor Cup winning captain outlined to the Irish Independent.

“As players, we really had to reflect on ourselves. You can talk about management or whatever, but a lot of the same players are there this year and we are just looking to really represent ourselves a lot better than we did last year.

“If we don't, we really need to look at ourselves.”
