Any talk of a second-tier All-Ireland football championship have been put to the back of Leitrim captain Michael McWeeney’s mind.

McWeeney is full focused on Sunday’s Connacht SFC clash against Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park and that is all he is thinking about as the game fast approaches.

Speaking to the Leitrim Observer, McWeeney stressed that they can’t afford to be focusing on anything else at the moment.

“You can’t look past it,” stated McWeeney. “Roscommon is our first championship match and it would be foolish to look past it to anything else. In the last number of years they have given us some bad beatings  but we are just completely focused.

The Leitrim captain added that they have taken great confidence from a successful league campaign that saw them promoted to FL3.

“We have momentum coming in from the league, we got promoted and it’s a good camp.”
