U16 Football

What a start to the new season! In what turned out to be a thrilling game against Shannon Gaels this Evening in Kilmore. Shannon Gaels began on the front foot with scores. However, Roscommon Gaels didn't sit back and registered some fine scores themselves.. At the break, Shannon Gaels led by 6 points. The second half saw Roscommon Gaels come out with all guns blazing and racing into a two-point lead. Roscommon Gaels started to win possession down the right wing and the comeback began. Some fantastic scores from Chloe Donoghue goal from Eimear O’Farrell, as well as two fine saves by Sioda McGuinness and some great defending by our backs, got Roscommon Gaels right back in the match. The final score Roscommon Gaels 3-10 Shannon Gaels 3-5. A great match to be part of and great performances by all involved. ....next week we play Padraig Pearses in Pearses.

Junior Ladies Football

Our Junior ladies are not back out again until April 14th when we take on Kilbride in Kilbride.

Roscommon Gaels Free Taking Session

Roscommon Gaels free taking sessions commenced yesterday evening under Kevin McStay. Yesterday’s session was for our u12 lads and u14 lads. This was a very enjoyable session a huge thanks to Kevin McStay for facilitating.

U12 Football:

Busy day today for the lads. First up was Day 1 of a 2 day blitz held in Ballinasloe. We had 2 teams playing and both performed well. Other clubs taking part were Ballinasloe, Caltra, St. Dominics and St. Brigids. Second day of the blitz is next Sunday.

Next up was half time in the Kerry -  Roscommon league match in the Hyde.  After a raffle earlier in the week 20 of our 43 players got the chance to play in front of the large crowd. All in all, a hectic but enjoyable day for all involved.

U14 Football Div 1

Roscommon Gales 0-10 Clan Na Gael 2-04

On a bright sunday morning ideal for football our lads started brightly playing into a stiff wind.  Exchanges were tight in the first half.  We had a job on our hands with their big midfielder - conor Sheehan but Ciaran & Rory stood firm  in the middle of the field.  Everthing that was thrown in on top of michael Gilhooley at full back - Michael won it hands down. He was outstanding in the first half along with Jack Donnelly who continues to impress and his physical athleticm at No 6 was a job to behold.  We went in at half time 4 points to 2 up.  Everything went well for us.  Quick balll into john Mcguinness worked well but we changed a bit in the 2nd Half. Andrew oates came out of goal & placed in full forward.  Worked for a while but we changed it later on.

They got 2 goals within the space of 2 mins which put them 4 up but points from john mcguinness and rory carthy bring the teams level with a few mins left.  Exchanges were frantic and some big hits went in.  Great character building for these lads.  Game finished level.  We are sure to meet them again

Next sunday we play st dominic's in tremane at 11am.  That will be a tester & good for us !!!

Please support all our teams as they compete in their various fixtures – it’s so important to all the players to see lots of support and encouragement on the side-lines – no matter what their age :-)!!  – It really does make a difference.

Especially the home games – what better way to pass an evening or morning – stroll up to the pitch, bring the kids and enjoy the fresh air while supporting your club.
