Masters: Crossan leads Dubs to narrow win

Captain Niall Crossan scored seven points as Dublin edged out Tyrone in an exciting All-Ireland Masters football final in Drumlish, Co. Longford this afternoon.
Val Andrews' charges led by 1-8 to 0-5 at the interval, but the Red Hands came storming back in the second period and when Packie Connolly pointed in injury-time, the gap was down to two points. However, the Dubs held on to inflict a second All-Ireland final defeat on the Ulster side in a fortnight.
With Cormac Smith netting an early goal and Crossan, Mick O'Keeffe and Ray Cosgrove adding points, the winners were well in control at the short whistle. But a Damien Patton goal left just two points between the sides, 1-7 to 1-9, to set up a tense finish.
In the earlier Shield final, an Emmet Collins goal directly from a free with the last kick of the game earned Roscommon a 1-5 each draw with local rivals Mayo.
