Tyrone defender Peter Harte admits to be excited by the newly former Super 8s.

The new look All-Ireland SFC quarterfinals kick off this weekend and Tyrone head for Croke Park where they will take on Roscommon in their opening match.

They must also face Dublin and Donegal in the coming weeks as they bid to reach the All-Ireland semi-finals. A good start to the campaign is imperative for any team with designs on reaching the next stage.

That is a sentiment that Harte agrees with and the Errigal Ciaran clubman revealed to the Ulster Herald that it is great to have come through the qualifiers.

"It's great to be in the quarterfinals and when that happens the All-Ireland qualifiers have definitely gone well. Maybe playing week after week suits us in Tyrone because we're accustomed to it in club football and also in the National League," explained Harte.

"But the Super 8s is now definitely where the real tough stuff begins and we're going to have to focus again on the game against Roscommon this weekend.

"The group that we're in really couldn't be any tougher. There's two provincial champions there in Dublin and Donegal and Roscommon who looked to be every bit as good as a team that has just won their provincial title."
