Offaly manager John Maughan has informed the county board that he is willing to stay on for another term.

With the Offaly GAA executive already stating that they were keen to keep the Mayo native in the role, his ratification will be a formality next month.

Maughan and his backroom team of selectors Gerry O’Malley and Kevin Guing as well as coach Mark Fee and S&C coach Dermot Sheridan have all agreed to stay for another year at least.

In his first year, Maughan can take many positives from both their league and championship campaign.

They had a decent run in NFL 3, while pushed a Meath side that reached the Super 8’s all the way in the Leinster SFC.

Wins of London and Sligo saw them progress through the qualifiers, before they were beaten by neighbours Laois in round three.

Meanwhile, the search for a new senior hurling manager is underway.
