Ballycumber GAA Club notes

April 23, 2019

Ballycumber GAA Club,

Buggy Coaches Division 2 Football League.

Ballycumber 4—9  Raheen 1—11.

Ballycumber secured two valuable league points in this game which was played at home on Good Friday. Both teams played football in a positive manner with some well taken scores . The home side were helped by the accuracy of Cormac Quinn, who scored two goals and three points and with the help of a goal from Gary Larkin and a point by corner back Donal Lynam, Ballycumber just stayed ahead of Raheen at the break. The visitors had the majority of possession and scored eight points. There were three penalties awarded in the game but only one was converted by Cormac. He had an earlier effort saved by the goalkeeper and Leo Guinan made a great save from a well taken Raheen penalty.

Raheen started the second half in determined fashion and had the ball in the net in the first minute.  Ballycumber added a goal and five points to their total with points from Luke Gavin Mangan, Adrian Kelly, Gary Larkin and Cormac and a trademark goal by Joe Lowry who was playing his first game since suffering an injury last year. The defenders restricted Raheen to three points in a very competitive second half.
