Results

Senior B Hurling Championship Round 2

Clodiagh Gaels 2-16 Tullamore 2-13.

Another week, another local derby and another victory. In what was a titanic battle of hurling and physicality the Gaels came through by three points. Tullamore started the brightest with the first three points because Liam Langton got our opening point. Joey Keenaghan followed up with another point from a long range free before Conor Langton put over a point to level matters. Good work from our forwards allowed David Buckley in on goal where he blasted to the net to give us the lead. Soon after, Tullamore went up the field and got a goal of their own through Stephen Keogh to put the town side ahead heading towards the break. The ever reliable Shane Dooley and Liam Langton traded scores before the interval and Tullamore lead by two points at the break.

It was score for score as the second half got underway with Langton and Dooley again trading scores before Dwayne Dunne and Joey Keenaghan got in on the act pointing and leaving us level. David Buckley scored a goal from long range midway through the half to give us the lead again with a strong wind in our favour. Langton was unsung with the frees but Tullamore always had an answer back. Dwayne Dunne and Shane Dolan chipped in with points to leave us six ahead with minutes to go before Gareth Mann rattled the net for Tullamore to leave a nerve finish in store. Under pressure with time up, our backs came good and cleared the danger and we put two points on the board heading into the long break.
