Rhode GAA Supporters Draw

We are delighted to announce a great new initiative for our club The Rhode GAA Supporters Draw:

Many Of our member's would not be aware of the costs of insurance and affiliations which is over €1000 per team. We have 13 teams in the clubs. At the moment membership charges are very low in comparison to our neighboring clubs which are roughly around €100 per child player and up to €150  for and adult player. This year we have not changed our membership fee but we are asking that maybe you would consider taking part in  the following options below. As a club going forward we need to bring our facilities up to date. We need new dressing rooms to accommodate all our teams and ladies teams. This is in our 4 year plan for the club. In year 1, we hope to apply for planning permission for new dressing rooms. We need everyone's support in bringing our club up to date with other clubs around us. This is a large project and will be a benefit to Rhode GAA and also the Community. Our success on the field is not reflected in our grounds. We need to work together to achieve our goals.

U'13 Leinster Cross-County League

Rhode U13 footballer's got their Leinster cross county league campaign under-way with a hard fought victory over Shandonagh (Westmeath) Rhode Controlled the game from early in the first half with some excellent fast movement of the ball and were unfortunate to concede two goals against the run of play but went into the break leading. Shandonagh rallied in the second half and kept Rhode under-pressure for the final 15 minutes of play. However,the defence held firm with every player giving everything they had to hold on for a 2 point win.

Many thanks to referee Martin Carthy and Declan O'Brien and his  Shandonagh  team for an excellent game of football;

Sympathy

Rhode GAA express our Deepest Sympathy to the Conroy Family on the sad and sudden passing of Richard (Dickie) Conroy Ballybrittan.

 .

Dickie will be sadly missed by all who knew him especially Deeply regretted by his loving wife Audrey, daughter Rachel, son Cīan, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, father-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 The Conroy Family have been wonderful servants and supporters of the club down through the years and it certainly rubbed of on Dickie having played at every level for the club togging out at Senior Level alongside his brother Charlie. Dickie was a  footballer of high quality winning numberous under-age title’s including an U14 & U16 championship in 1976 , he proudly captained Rhode to victory in the 1979 Minor final following that he went on to play at Adult level playing in the U’21 and Senior finals in 1982.  Dickie took a great interest in the under-age club and for many year’s he trained the U10’s and U12’s and last year helped out the U’15 team. For three years Dickie worked as our groundman in Fr.Dowling park where he kept our facilities immaculate. His Son Cian is a key player for our upcoming  U15 and U’17 teams . Dickie’s committment and dedication as a player, and supporter of the club can never be forgotten.

Sympathy also is extended to the family of Molly Fennessy nee Kennedy Cillian Crescent Edenderry .The deceased was a Sister of  Liam Kennedy, Josie Jones and Ann Nolan of Rhode whose Funeral mass took place last Wednesday morning in St.Mary's Church followed by burial to St.Mary's Cemetery.

May Dickie & Molly Rest In Peace.
