Kevin Connolly registered 0-7 in Coolderry's Leinster club SHC win over Mount Leinster Rangers

Coolderry (Offaly) 1-22

Mount Leinster Rangers (Carlow) 1-16

Coolderry overcame the second half dismissals of Kevin Brady and Mark Bergin to trump Mount Leinster Rangers in a hard-fought Leinster club SHC quarter-final at Bord na Mona O'Connor Park.

Managed by Offaly legend Joachim Kelly, the record Sean Robbins Cup holders recovered from a slow start to lead by 1-13 to 1-9 at half-time and extended their advantage after the restart, despite losing centre back Brady to a second yellow card in the 35th minute and Bergin to a straight red with three minutes remaining.

Former Leinster kingpins Mount Leinster Rangers led by 0-5 to 0-3 after 11 minutes before Coolderry reeled off the next three points to edge ahead. The visitors regained the lead in the 17th minute when Chris Nolan netted, only for Brian Carroll to cancel it out with an instant reply at the other end.

The Offaly champions were leading 1-15 to 1-10 when Brady was given his marching orders, but Mount Leinster Rangers couldn't get any closer than three points and their misery was complete when Coolderry goalkeeper Stephen Corcoran, who scored five long-range frees, saved a penalty from Kevin McDonald in injury-time.
