Na Fianna club notes

U15 FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINAL

Na Fianna U15 Footballers picked up the first and hopefully not the last piece of silverware of the year for the club with a League Final win over St Vincents in Kilclonfert last Monday week on a scoreline of 3-13 to 2-14. Na Fianna were first off the mark with the opening 5 points inside 10 mins before St Vincents got up and running with their first 3 mins by the midpoint of the half. Na Fianna added 2 points to St Vincents before Adam Joyce dispatched Na Fianna's first goal on 25 mins. A further 3 point haul for St Vincents left just the goal between them at the break as Na Fianna led 1-07 to 0-07. A point apiece inside the first min before Joel Troy finished goal no 2 for Na Fianna on 3 mins. St Vincents replied with 2 points before Na Fianna's 3rd green flag arrived on 14 mins, Robbie Gallagher's free on the left wing was caught by Jack Kelly on the right corner of the net and he picked his spot to shoot to the to the top left corner of the net. Both sides added 2 points apiece over the next 10 mins but 3 great saves by Na Fianna keeper Martin Kelly, 1 a penalty & 2 point blank, proved crucial to keeping his side ahead as before the end of normal time St Vincents seized their opportunity scoring 2-01 without reply to draw level. Then in stoppage time 3 pointed frees, 2 for Na Fianna & 1 for St Vincents put Na Fianna in front twice before Jack Cleary sealed it with a point with the last shot of the game. Na Fianna Captain Fergal Dolan delightfully accepted the trophy from Daingean man Padraic Keating.
